My school is located in a Title 1 community. Over 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Resources are scarce, but our school does everything it can to ensure that students have access to a high quality education, one no different or less than that received and experienced by more affluent students. We take tackling and overcoming the achievement gap seriously! Thanks to a successful grant proposal with the Riordan Foundation, our class has a smart board. The level of engagement and learning is high as students enjoy the interactive games, multimedia presentations and differentiated learning opportunities. My students appreciate it so much that they say it is the best part of their classroom! We use it every single day throughout the day. To complement the learning we do with our smart board, we would like to use a document camera. A document camera would allow students and the teacher to model strategies, annotate text, project math manipulatives(rulers, thermometer).
