My school is located in the area of town, I like to call "Little Mexico". Many of my students are first generation Americans. Many of their parents only went to the second or third grade in their country because they had to work to help support their family. The community is close and families work together to help their children become successful. Even though a majority are illiterate, they do the best they can by supporting the school and teachers. Our school is a loving and nurturing place for them. Over the past 2 years many students who were zoned to other schools have come back home to Zavala! This year Ethiopia and Korea are also represented along with Mexico, South America and USA!
