My students come from across DC. They are brilliant, inquisitive, and passionate. At KIPP DC: Northeast Academy we push our students to become the learners, researchers, thinkers, and inventors we know they are. In non-fiction reading we challenge and reinterpret history, design and execute scientific experiments to better understand the world around us, research topics that we are passionate about, and develop and argue opinions about the current topics that affect our community. In my class I aim to build the reading, writing, and research skills that are essential to success in college and beyond. I want my students to know have a library where they can follow their passions, seek more information, and become an expert of a topic that interests them. We have many books but I hope to organize them in a way that students find it what they are looking for.
