I am so excited for my students to participate in a Hero's Journey book club! With your help my students will have opportunities to read and discuss a variety of books with their classmates that they might otherwise never have considered. Although there may be one or two copies of these in the library, this allows us to read them in small groups in our classroom. Students will begin to see the connections among classical heroes like Odysseus & Beowulf, and contemporary characters like Harry Potter & Katniss Everdeen. Finally, they will explore how ordinary people leading ordinary lives, often rise to unexpected levels of heroism.
