I teach eighth grade English and READ180 in a culturally diverse area. My students are interested in everything...BUT reading. I am constantly searching for ways to engage them by using technology, while searching for that "just right" book. One of the biggest challenges I face is getting my students to even give a book a chance. The 7th grade read Divergent this year and had a great deal of success. I would love to continue with the sequel next year in 8th grade, but the funding just isn't there. My students love the movies, and it would be nice to expose them to the difference between literary and cinematic representatives of a story. All of these copies will allow my students to experience the story in a different way.
