Greetings! I have been a high school social studies teacher in Bridgeport, Connecticut for the past twelve years. My favorite grade level to teach is ninth-grade, because I truly believe it is the year that matters most. As indicated by my profile photo, I enjoy integrating real-world connections into lesson units by inviting guest speakers, creating authentic interdisciplinary writing assignments, and launching projects that get students engaged and thinking about the larger community. For the past two years, I have taught very closely with the English teacher to produce Humanities lessons and am seeking resources to help students make even more cross-disciplinary connections and get them enthusiastic about reading non-fiction and fiction texts.
