My students come into my class with an eagerness to learn and be challenged both academically and through character development. 56% of our student population is made up of ‘socioeconomically disadvantaged’ families. Parents are asked to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours throughout the school year. That time can be done inside or outside the classroom. My 2nd grade students love to create and are motivated when working on technology. They build stamina and independence through our small group teaching model and gain confidence in their personal success. Through the use of Chromebooks during our rotations students are able to create and interact with the new common core standards in ways that allow them to demonstrate their knowledge by creating new things.
