I teach in a first grade dual language classroom. It is a 50/50 model in which my students receive instruction in both English and Spanish. My class is comprised of students that possibly only speak English, only speak Spanish, are fluent in both languages or possibly no language at all! The dynamics of my classroom can be very exciting when my students are making gains and conquering all of their goals! However, along with every success there are obstacles along the way. Some students have never attended school before, or have just moved here from another country. While others are excelling in every aspect academically. It is a constant ebbing and flowing wave of challenges and successes in this program and each day always brings something different and new. I look forward to the challenges I face as a teacher and will continuously look for new ways to rise to the occasion to meet my students needs.
