I teach Music at a Title 1 charter school where more than 80% of our students are at an economic disadvantage. Music cuts through the chaos of day to day life. Our students face a multitude of challenges, hardships, and struggles outside of our school walls. School is much more than a place for learning and fun for them. It is a safe place, a kitchen, guidance, protection, support for the community, and a second home. We work many 12 hour days in order ensure our learners can gain the same opportunities that their privileged peers in other classical academies have. I believe in these kids and hope you will help me in growing their passion for Music.
