With so much state testing, the love of reading has taken a back seat. It is all about passing the test-which I want all by students to do, but my main goal is to create life-long readers, writers, thinkers, and learners. Having a high-interest novel my students want to read will be a major victory in the battle of making reading accessible to my students. Many of my students feel that reading is something that is out of their reach. I want to erase that myth from the minds of my students. All I need is one novel that is of high-interest to change their mind set.
