My students are a mix of low to high middle class. Galileo is a K-8 STEM School and the students have the opportunity to go to engineering once a week and design and build many different things. As a first grade teacher, my job is to make sure they are prepared for school by being able to read, write, and understand math. I also take the job of teaching them character traits rather seriously. I started a Kind Kids Club in my classroom in 2016. It transformed our classroom and the way we treated one another! Since then, the other first grades have joined forces with me and we now have 4 Kind Kids Clubs! I would love to have the opportunity to continue to teach students the importance of kindness in the hopes that it will make a difference in our crazy and often stressful world.
