Our school is an ODE focus school with 100% students on free lunches. Our school community is amazing and very supportive. Most teachers come to our school and stay for years because of the families and needs within the building. The principal and teachers know all of the students names in the school not just the ones in their class. Our families care a great deal about their children and support their children the best they can. Many of our families do not have the financial means to support literacy skills in the homes. Establishing a strong library that supports literacy skills and independent reading skills is a high priority in my classroom.
