To coincide with the theme of this year's Scholastic Book Fair: "JUNGLE: Elephants, Tigers, and Books--OH, MY!", our school will be hosting a Family Reading Night to encourage students and their families to enjoy an evening of Read-Alouds and jungle-themed, literacy-based activities. We hope these two events will get kids excited about becoming lifelong readers and learners. To kick off these events, we have invited two zookeepers from our local zoo to give our entire student body three (3) separate presentations featuring 7-8 different exotic animals found on several continents in the wild. Students will have an opportunity to "take a trip" through several countries by meeting some of the animals indigenous to those countries. They will learn how these creatures adapt to their different environments and what we all can do to help assure the survival of those animals with conservation. We would use your generous donations to cover the cost of bringing these exotic animals to our school along with two of the zoo's keepers. We think this is a fantastic way to get our students "wild" about reading AND about the various animals with whom we share our planet!
