These materials plus many recycled items will be used to help my students create many different solutions to problem solving tasks. For example, after reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears, students are given the task of building a bed for Goldilocks that will not break when a small doll is placed on the bed. Students are able to use any of the materials specified for that task. Another great task that the students love is 'create a new musical instrument with the materials provided.' The creativeness and different products that the students come up with are exciting to see. The items requested will allow students to have a better variety of materials to use when creating their solution to the task. Students become engaged problem solvers which benefits them for the rest of their life. Students will also be able to create items without any direct or specific task. They are able to let their imagination run wild! I have had students build robots, desk caddies, and as an entire class project we built a dollhouse.
