My students are between the ages of 6 to 9 years old, in first through third grade. We are a Montessori public charter program that fosters independence and individualized learning. They love to be helpful and feel needed in their environment. They have responsibilities in the classroom: having specific jobs to support the environment, like caring for our classroom snake, to dusting shelves and sharpening pencils. We have a daily leader, who calls attention for meetings, runs our circles, keeps track of daily history and facilitates our music appreciation program. They learn these skills, through multiple opportunities, of keeping the pace, the attention of others and being fair.

About my class
