We are a very diverse and one of the most mobile schools in our district with a military as well as large Hispanic populations. Many of our parents work two or more jobs to make ends meet and students are transferring in and out of the school everyday so it is difficult for new students to stay organized. Many of the students who attend this school are lower than average in reading and writing skills and have a need to "catch-up" to what the expectations are for typical 7th grader. Interactive notebooks are an easy way for all levels of students to learn the material and to stay organized in doing so. It is a way to teach through all learning styles: visual, tactile and listening. For those advanced students, they can make higher level connections and for the lower students they don't have to spend so much time taking notes, but can use the additional time to process information.
