My students are 4 or 5 year Olds. They are great students no behavioral problems. The majority come from low income families. More than 90 % are Hispanic and their first language is Spanish. So a big number of them are very visual. They love movement so we do a lot of singing and dancing in our classroom. We sing our ABC, numbers, shapes, colors etc. using body movement as well. They are really smart. As a teacher a very proud of them. We are almost at the end of the year and the majority of them are reading short sentence books. As a charter and common core school we focus more reading and math and unfortunately our classrooms don't have an art center where kids can use art material and make school more fun. My dream as a teacher is to make school more exciting, and more interesting for my students. I believe arts is valuable in children development.
