These markers will get put to use day one. The student supplies from the beginning of the year are starting to run out and it seems a battle of attrition until we can't borrow a blue from a classmate to finish off a background, or forego an outline to make sure there's enough of a certain color. The meter sticks serve a double purpose in helping students with oversized paper and supporting our study of units of length and conversions between them. I have no lack of students wanting to contribute to class charts and other assorted posters whether kindness, character, charity, or otherwise. We have already made posters for a local animal shelter near our school, as well as the Great Kindness Challenge. Beyond student selected art projects during their free time, we also work in small groups creating pictorials to support topics in science and history. The students also create the charts for math conversions or processes and even for language arts such as checklists when working on writing.
