The students at Central Elementary in National City are vibrant, highly collaborative, and deeply creative young artists. As a proud Title 1 school with a wonderfully diverse student body, our theatre classroom serves as an essential space for oral language development and creative self-expression. My TK through 6th-grade scholars thrive on active, hands-on learning. They do not want to just read plays at a desk; they want to step into the stories and build new worlds together. This project empowers our older students to take on vital leadership roles as student directors, stage managers, and technical crew leaders. Utilizing rechargeable voice amplifiers, mobile costume racks, and soft-close prop trunks will allow soft-spoken students and English Language Learners to practice directing their peers, project authority without vocal strain, and build collaborative life skills that last long after the curtains close.
