This is my first year teaching 3rd grade and I want to be able to provide my incoming students with the supplies they deserve. Due to larger enrollment, our space has been transformed from an art room to a classroom. Therefore I want to implement some changes in the room to really make it the learning environment it needs to be. For my class, I want to create a literacy center for read alouds. The classroom rug and bean bag chairs will give the classroom this area to conduct those read alouds and even engage in morning meetings. I want to update our sharpener for faster preparation time when needed. I want to give them a coloring pencil set to provide additional resources incase of hardship. I also want to be able to have a classroom mailbox in order to prepare my students for the responsibilities they will need to take on this year. They need to understand responsibility especially as they become older and continue their educational journeys. Lastly, I included whiteboards to facilitate best teaching strategies when it comes to formative assessment. I want to be able to quickly assess my students abilities before, during, and after lessons in order to affirm they are taking away the knowledge to be learned. Again I hope to be able to provide this supplies for my classroom this year and be able to participate in a discussion about the importance of giving back in society.
