I have 20 amazing first graders in my class. They are some of the sweetest children and really love to learn. Every day, my students use a Scholastic phonics program called iRead. My students love when they earn badges for reading well or when they receive books. Their faces light up and want to share their achievements with the entire class! I teach at a large, predominantly African-American school that faces many challenges as many of my students come from areas of extreme poverty. Our school district provides free lunch to all children in the parish.
