I am asking for 60 copies of The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas so we can read this book as a 10th grade class. My kids have been asking if I have copies of this book for our classroom library, but I'm trying to put together a class set so we can all read it together. Please help us make this possible! I plan to pair The Hate U Give with passages from Du Bois's The Souls of Black Folk to examine the concept of double consciousness and the more modern manifestation of that idea in code-switching. I am very excited to facilitate conversations with my students around race, identity, and voice as they read about Starr and compare their own experiences with hers.
