The STEM materials I am looking to get donated will help my students gain a better understanding of science and technology. Rather than being told what to do, my students will have the opportunity to explore, build, problem-solve and investigate science, technology, engineering and math concepts. The fairy tale stem kit will help bring fairy tales to life when the students have the opportunity to try to build a house strong enough to not get blown down, the stem science station will be used during science group rotations where students will work in groups to create and problem solve, the early learning kits will provide the foundation on what stem activities are and how they can use their imagination to build concrete objects and test their hypothesis, the stem non-fiction books will give my students a real look into the world and show them true facts and the 23 stem journals will be used so my students can write and reflect about their lessons and what they learned and the process they went thru to complete a project. These materials will not only help me engage my students, they will also provide me an opportunity to teach them critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, learn how to be creative and most importantly help them to make a connection between school, work, community and the global economy thru hands on activities. Children are natural explorers and investigators and the materials that I have chosen will allow my class to work together to solve problems and create and develop new ideas as a team. The STEM activities will provide my class with the foundation that they need to be successful in the future.
