My first grade students are fun-loving and energetic. They come to school excited to start each day and ready to see what fun activities I have planned. The students in my room come from many different backgrounds. We have a large percentage of low income families, with 80 percent qualifying for free or reduced lunch. A little more than 20 percent of our students are ENL. As you can imagine, my classroom is very diverse. My students range from non-readers to gifted readers. We all work together to make our classroom a fun and safe environment so all can learn and be successful.
