My students are in the fourth grade who live in an urban district. They currently attend a Gifted & Talented school. They are extremely smart and want to improve themselves and their families by hopefully having respectable jobs. They strive to excel but unfortunately they have very poor organizational skills and haven't learned the proper way to study. Education has always come easy to them and they never had to study. In addition, many come from families who have had very limited education and can't always help them. Now that my students are in this academy, we teach at an accelerated rate and study skills are very important. The students now actually have to work to earn the "A". The students appreciate this opportunity and really work hard. With the right tools, I can really help make a difference with their education now and for their future.
