My students come from various home lives. A few of my students have only been in the United States for a couple years or less. In my classroom alone, four different languages are spoken. Some students live at home with two parents, some one. Others live with grandparents or aunts/uncles. Some students have been in foster care or have even been homeless. Despite our diverse family structures, stress, and/or crisis they encounter at home; each student is still expected to enter a classroom ready to learn. For many children, that feels like an impossible feat.
