My students are all classified as children on the Autism Spectrum. They often engage in a variety of behaviors that can be characterized as sensory seeking behaviors. Often times their ability to focus and attend is impeded by rocking, flapping, biting, and hitting among other things. I work with an AMAZING group of people that love each and every one of these children. We so desperately want to provide equipment for these children that can help them regulate their bodies. From deep pressure to visually stimulating toys to textures materials, these items allow for more efficient sensory processing. As teachers and parents have grown to understand and deal with these behaviors that can be so foreign to us at times, we've come to understand the importance of sensory breaks. We want our students to feel safe and secure at all times. We hope to decrease a lot of the anxiety and fear that our students sometimes feel as a result of difficulties in sensory processing.
