My students arrive each day with smiles on their faces, despite the adversity they face within their home, their school, and their community. I teach in a small, special education classroom (PreK) in a low-income, urban neighborhood. Many of my students are English Language Learners. They have a range of capabilities in regards to language, mobility, behavior, and cognition. They are ready and willing to participate in age-appropriate activities and tasks but do not always have the means to successfully do so.
