As a second year teacher, my classroom doesn't have all the same materials as other classrooms so my students do their best with what I have been given or bought myself. They are a social and caring group that enjoys building, and I would love to be able to have these materials in my classroom. My students deserve a wide variety of manipulatives to express themselves with, so the supplies in this project would greatly impact them in their creativity and social skills as well. These materials would help alleviate boredom and make centers enjoyable. I chose trains due to their enjoyment, and I have borrowed them from other teachers and the kids greatly enjoy them. Magna-Tiles allow for endless building opportunities and teamwork sharing the building materials. The Duplos would add to the small amount I inherited, giving students more opportunities to add to their creations. Social play is crucial for this age and these materials would help my students work together, express themselves creatively and have more options. Thank you for you donation!
