A very high population of my first graders are English Language Learners and need additional resources to support them in their dreams of being lifelong learners. My school is full of amazing and dedicated educators, who come to work each day to support each other, and our students, who come from challenging inner city neighborhoods and living situation. Even with a committed and supportive staff, my school is a Level 5 turnaround school, that is underfunded and under-resourced. It is heartbreaking to know that our bright and talented students do not have the resources needed to not only make them successful in first grade but to also make them accomplished learners in life.
