My kindergarten students come from many different backgrounds. There are 9 different languages spoken in my students' homes. All of them have loving families but many of them have significant struggles. Several have a parent in jail. Some are with a single working parent, some live with grandparents, some don't have a home to live in at all. Our school is the largest elementary school in the district. We have the highest percentage of ELL students and students in poverty. We have struggled for years to discover how to help these student achieve. Over the last 3 years, we have adopted a mindset of teaching each and every child. We work to discover what each individual child needs to move forward and provide him or her with instruction with laser like focus. We have seen the tides begin to turn. We are watching growth explosions!
