It is so important to start the school year off right! In second grade, I focus on teaching my students organizational skills. We use these skills in many ways, but begin through a binder. The WOW (We Organize Work) Binder allows students to organize many different documents, along with giving them the responsibility of bringing it to school every day. My students will use the folder, notebook, pencil pouch, poly envelope, dividers, and pocket protectors as tools to keep this binder organized. Each item will have a specific purpose. There will be sections to keep parent communication open, as well as sections where students can keep work they are especially proud of. Finally, students will use these binders to track their own data and set goals. Organizational skills can be used throughout your entire life, which is why it is so important to teach these practices to students at a young age.
