My students are from proud blue collar union families. They are very diverse in ethnicity, cultural heritage and regional upbringing. Our student population is compromised of Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic and African Americans. They are mostly Asian students of Chinese decent. We have students newly immigrated, where they are learning both English at school and their native language at home from their parents. We have a wide range of ELL, English Language Learners, from Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish to Italian. My school is currently 100% free lunch. We are a neighborhood elementary and middle school with fourteen hundred students. We are a "Magnet" school in title only. We accept every child that enters our doors and registers. We have a 2 morning and afternoon Pre-K program, Kindergarten through 8th grade classrooms. We have five of each grade level, with six first grade classrooms. We have two buildings. I travel and teach at both buildings.
