I work at an amazing elementary school. We teach in English and Spanish. We live in a rural area, and 76.3% of our school population qualifies for free and reduced price lunches. Most of our students can't afford to buy their own books. They depend on classroom, and school libraries to get books to read. The city library is not within walking distance and most of our students don't have access to it. Most of our students come from non traditional homes living below the poverty levels. Most of our students look forward to their time at school. I want to give them the opportunity of experiencing a different reality and learning through reading and literature.
