The students at my school are in need of 20 Ukuleles. We were able to procure 10 with limited district funds which would only accommodate 1/3 of the class. My school is title 1 and our students are 100% free lunch. Students will learn how to play the Ukulele which will inspire them to play more musical instruments in upper grade levels and provide an outlet to practice social and emotional learning. Part of the music curriculum is to play melodic instruments which many schools achieve with recorders. Our 600+ student body are not all able to afford to buy their own recorders. A shared class set of Ukuleles will not only achieve this music standard but inspire students to make music and find a way to relieve stress.
