I work with a very diverse group of students in one of the biggest cities in the United States and every day is an adventure in my classroom. Our school has 3,500 students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and approximately 50% of our school is economically disadvantaged. I teach six periods a day, three French 2 classes and three French 1 classes that range from 20-30 students. My students amaze me every day when I hear what they go through outside of school and yet they still have the motivation to come and learn. Teaching my students a foreign language and giving them an escape into a new culture is something that I feel very lucky to be doing each day.
