My school is on the rise academically. We saw increases last year in reading and math scores on standardized testing and have a staff full of energy and enthusiasm! However, we face many challenges as well. The school is located in an economically struggling part of our city and nearly 100% of students are on free/reduced meals. My class has 19 students with a variety of academic strengths and areas of improvement. They are a fun group with a great deal of energy, enthusiasm, and humor. They love to share their ideas, and class participation is rarely a problem. We are currently working on mastering area and perimeter and reading about our U.S. government. My students are learning what it takes to be active members of society in the United States!
