My students are all deaf/HH and communicate using American Sign Language. Due to their hearing loss they benefit from visual and hands-on lessons incorporating technology. Most of my students' vocabulary/language skills are very low, so the project I post are typically hands-on materials, visual tools that aide my instruction. Most of the students I have, I will have for 3-5 years in my room, so we feel like a family. I know how much they would love these projects funded because it wohld enhance the numerous activities in my room throughout the school day, and I can already see the excitement on their faces. My school/district is in a low in-come area which makes it difficult to get funding for such items in the classroom. 87 percent of students in the school come from low income households. My kids' needs often get neglected.
