The gift of books, that highlight a deaf protagonist will have a life long impact on my students. These resources are invaluable for my classroom. Every day my students can sit down to read books that they relate to! In a pre-kindergarten through first grade classroom we have a very diverse group of students. Having fun stories with everyday problems like, Duke the Deaf dog series, keeps all of my students engaged in the lesson!\r\n\r\nSome Deaf children think that when they grow up they will become hearing because they've never seen a Deaf adult. This is why representation is so important. Young children need to see themselves in their world, or they won't think they have a place in it. Not only do these stories teach lessons they also show representation, which creates a connection with these stories.
