I am a Literacy Coach in Oklahoma where we have a high Hispanic population. I am saddened by how few books we have for these students to read and enjoy. Our English Language Learners are actually some of our best students but their scores and grades do not always reflect that. They want to learn and they want to learn English. They are some of the hardest workers and never complain about schoolwork. They have a strong desire to fit in and communicate with their peers but often they have just arrived in America. They are struggling to fit in among peers, struggling in school due to the fact that everything is presented in English, and struggling to find their way in a new country. I wish to provide them with one thing that isn't a struggle but merely pleasure.
