Part of being a successful teacher is building on our students strengths and identifying needs. Our students are naturally social beings. Teachers often instruct in a group setting on the floor to alleviate distraction and increase time on task. This enables the teacher to meet the needs of each individual student in the next phase of instruction. A classroom community rug provides a sense of belonging for each student while fostering the recognized need for teaching behavioral and social norms. While these rugs seemingly weren't a requirement in the past, they are an identified need as we build our smallest learners up to be the most successful citizens possible!

About my class
