My students need a listening center to be able to enjoy books independently. Having a listening center will allow my students to be able to listen to a story and follow along with the text. Being able to explore a book independently will allow my students to gain exposure to the written word, along with increasing their vocabulary. My students love read alouds. My students also love story retelling of familiar books. This listening center will allow them the ability to explore even more books that they themselves can become familiar with, and therefore, enhance their love for reading. The materials for this project will provide my students with an engaging way to build and grow foundational literacy skills. Listening and comprehension are literacy skills that all students need in order to be successful.
