The students in my classroom are very used to direct instruction and being closely monitored by adults. While I would still be overseeing them working, I would LOVE to create a station in which my students would follow an individual schedule of tasks that they need to complete for the day. This shelving unit and bins would allow me to put individual work tasks in an organized manner that my students would be able to understand. My students are at a transitional age where they need to start thinking about their futures. Some things that may be in their futures are the workforce, supported employment, or adult day programs. Each of these would require some level of independence and the ability to follow instructions. I hope to put real-life work activities in these bins such as sorting, rolling silverware, bundling items, preparing mail, etc. In addition to academics, my students need to move towards functional life skills in the classroom. I hope you consider donating to us. We have a wonderful classroom with hardworking kids. They would love something like this to help them reach their goals!
