Eager. Excited. Interested. Motivated. Brave. These are words I would use to describe the students I work with. Many of my students are newcomers; brand new to English and often to our country. They show up, in a completely unfamiliar environment, with unfamiliar faces hearing a language they cannot understand and despite all of these potentially scary obstacles, they work hard! As they flourish, gain confidence and language, I get to see their personalities emerge and blossom. Approximately 350 of the 1,000 students in my school are multilingual leaners at varying levels and more than 75% of my school qualifies for free/reduced lunch.
