I teach math and science to sixth graders. I get to use the other part of my brain when I teach drama to seventh and eighth graders. The school is 60% Hispanic and 40% African American. All the students live in the neighborhood and walk to school. Because the area is very dangerous, the after school program must end before dusk. We don't want the students walking home alone in the dark, as there is gang activity. Many of the children live with foster parents, as their parents are in jail or rehab.
