I am not just a teacher. My students often have no emotional support and usually are in the lower socioeconomic status category. Consequently, many of my students consider me as their other mother. In addition to teaching social skills, I teach English Language Arts and Reading. My students are students with disabilities ranging from Intellectual Disabilities, emotional disturbances, speech impairments, hearing impairments, visual impairments, AD/HD to Specific Learning Disabilities. Many of them are reading on a first grade level. Some are a little higher and some are a little lower. My goal is to give them the opportunity and skills that they need once they graduate. I hope to help them to be career or college ready.
