My school is in the heart of Atlanta. We are the first conversion-Charter school in the Atlanta Public School system. We are focused on creating 21st Century Learners through a project-based STEAM curriculum. As a newly formed charter, we are challenging ourselves and our students to think outside the box. We are growing. My students are active learners that love to engage in authentic activities and discussions. I have a number of supportive parents that care deeply about the success of all the children. Most students love to work collaboratively with their peers and are interested in exploring new topics, especially in science. The students are eager to join in discussion and debate on contemporary issues. I have found that these discussions often lead to interesting connections in science and literacy. Often students will draw connections that I would not have imagined. Our room has the feel of student-teachers and teacher-students, both the students and I learn from each other.
