In our first grade classroom we have alternative seating to ensure that we meet everyone's learning styles. Some students choose to stand while work, others lay down comfortable on a sofa, and some choose regular desks and chairs! To make our classroom have equitable access for all learners, we would like some more furniture to help meet our goals as teachers who differentiate. Bungee cords tied around chairs will allow students to work out their wiggles while being on task. Arm chairs allow students to build reading stamina while being comfortable. Lap desks allow students to lay down while writing independently. Weighted pillows will help our special needs students feel comfortable and secure. Headphones will help our students who are sensitive to noise. All of these examples aforementioned above are just a couple of ways we can accommodate for our students in need. We really appreciate your support!
