The donations to this project will help students, who are fidgety, stay focused when reading independently. I will not have to monitor them individually and prompt them on a constant basis as much. Students will feel comfortable in these bean bag chairs and will be able to become engaged during their time reading time for a period of 20 minutes. Students will look forward to switching to their next station of supervised word work, a social studies shared reading lesson, or a guided reading lesson. The bean bags will also provide me the ability to conference individually with students when necessary while the rest of the students face the opposite direction and not be distracted. I can also utilize the bean bags during writing time when students want to work independently with a clipboard and my teachers assistant can provide them with support as needed. The bean bags will be useful for those students who are restless when sitting in chairs and feel the need to kick or lean their chairs backwards.
