I teach kindergarten students in a middle class, suburban school. Kindergarten has become very academic and due to budget cuts, the art program is no longer offered. It is a challenge to keep lessons developmentally appropriate while still meeting the standards. I strive to integrate art as much as possible in all subject areas. I would also like to have an art center where the children can have the freedom to explore and create art independently.
